Kim Maxwell

Kim Maxwell is a freelance journalist with a speciality in wine writing, restaurant reviews, chef profiles and travel. Working in Cape Town on an independent basis for nine years, she contributes regularly to specialist lifestyle titles including Food & Home Entertaining, WINE Magazine and Good Taste, and styles related photo shoots sometimes.

She comments on trade issues in WineLand magazine and has a regular slot on www.winenews.co.za . She has been an occasional writer for Weekender, Private Edition, Winelands Living, Proud and Property Magazine in South Africa, as well as to UK wine titles and Appetite magazine in Singapore. There she’s explored topics from cooking classes in Bali or confessions of private chefs to how to secure the best deal when negotiating a property bond. She has judged on Diners Club Winelist of the Year awards, and contributed to various restaurant guides.

Previously Kim worked in Singapore for five years, her main responsibility overseeing the wine section for Wine & Dine magazine, as well as assisting in a television show, restaurant guides and health titles. She was contributing editor of a country-specific guide called Who’s Who of Wine in Asia. Career highlights include interviewing Robert Parker Junior in Singapore and chef Ferran Adria at El Bulli restaurant in Spain.
