Our 2009 SA Wine Tourism Conference Gourmet Dinner on Wednesday 22 July at Myoga (meaning Ginger Blossom in Japanese) is an event not to be missed! Guests can look forward to Mike’s contemporary, global fusion style dining which has garnered up a host of both national and international awards – among them Conde Naste’s ‘Hot List Top 100 New Restaurants in the World; People’s Choice Eat Out Awards Top 10 Best Hotel Restaurant; American Express Fine Dining Platinum Award; Diners Club Platinum and ‘Best New Entry Wine List’. The beauty of the gardens at the Vineyard, combined with the family-owned hotel’s wonderful history (it was Lady Anne Barnard’s country house in the late 1700s), creates a very special setting for our 2009 Gourmet Dinner. Myoga’s dedicated sommelier will guide our guests along their culinary experience.

Starter

Salmon

wakami salt salmon, teriyaki glaze, béarnaise, lemon peel emulsion, avocado cauliflower mousse, scallop, wasabi gremolata, potato blini, salmon tartar

Recommended wine: Vergelegen Semillon 2007
Intense citrus, orange, marmalade, honey and spice. finely focused with crisp acidity. full textured mouth-feel with a long lingering finish.

Main course

Sous vide beef fillet

Pomme pont neuf, wild mushroom air, sautéed tenderstem broccoli and asparagus, smoked beef lardons, country style duck terrine, smoked bordelaise jus

Recommended wine: simonsig tiara 2002
The nose shows ripe blackcurrant and cassis aromas with vanilla and cinnamon, delicate crushed berry fruit on the palate well balanced by mature tannins.

Dessert

Rich chocolate brownie sacher torte
White chocolate mousse, maple ginger ice cream, amarula raspberry cloud

Recommended wine: Delheim edelspatz noble late harvest rhine riesling 2007
Concentrated dried apricot, citrus with notes of honey, balanced and expressive. smooth elegant palate with a lingering stone fruit finish.
