The Robertson Wine Valley is a privately funded wine route association that represents wineries from Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Robertson.  In 2004, with almost no funding, they initiated the Wacky Wine Weekend, South Africa's biggest regional wine festival that boasts with an economic impact of R 21million over 3 days.  They've specifically identified regional events to position themselves successfully and was named South Africa's 2nd favourite wine route for the 3rd year running after having held the number 5 positions for many years prior to their focus on events.

Bonita Malherbe has been the manager of the Robertson Wine Valley for the last 6 1/2 years.  She initiated the Wacky Wine Weekend, Robertson Slow and other events, chaired the South African Wine Routes Forum for 2 years and is the mother of a boy (2) and girl (5) and wife to winemaker Eduard.  In 2008 she was the recipient of the Giepie Rossouw trophy for her contribution to agriculture in the Robertson area. (1st women and youngest recipient to date).  She's got no fancy grades - just a marketing diploma and learnt whatever she needed to know along the way.
